Wineries on the Bellarine Peninsula

Updated: Mar 18, 2018

You’re spoilt for choice of wineries on the Bellarine Taste Trail.

Weekend packages can be arranged including transport to and from our apartments creating a wine/farm produce tour tailor made for your group.

Bellarine region wineries make a large range of cool-climate wines, including pinot noir, pinot gris, pinot grigio, chardonnay, riesling, sauvignon blanc, zinfandel, gewürztraminer, shiraz, viognier, merlot, cabernet franc and cabernet sauvignon.

Some only have half an acre under vine, while others export all over the world and count themselves among the largest privately owned vineyards in Victoria. Many have excellent inviting cellar door outlets, some award-winning restaurants and you can even stay at one of them (Oakdene). Browse our wineries and plan your next winey weekend.

Baie Wines

Baie Wines’ hallmark is the people behind the meticulously handcrafted wine. Pete prunes every vine, Anne mows every row, we all pick! Every row, every vine, every bunch! Come and look over a vineyard that is of the highest quality, the cornerstone of such great wine.

Banks Road Vineyard

We are a boutique winery based in the Bellarine area just outside Geelong in Victoria and have been operating since 2002. We make all our wines on site in our small hands-on facility.

We’re very passionate about our wine and enjoy being so close to our produce – 12 or so acres of grapes planted to pinot noir, chardonnay, sauvignon blanc, pinot gris and shiraz. We also source cabernet sauvignon and shiraz grapes from the Harcourt Valley near Bendigo.

Barrgowan Vineyard

Barrgowan Vineyard and Winery is owned and operated by Dick and Dib Simonsen, who planted half an acre of vines in 1994 to make wine for private consumption. Now they produce 200 cases a year, but have no plans for expansion.

Bellarine Estate Winery

Bellarine Estate’s cellar door welcomes visitors to try their exciting range of red and white wines produced from estate-grown fruit and they also have a tantalising restaurant.

Jack Rabbit Vineyard

A stable of sophisticated cool climate wines guarantees to provide a truly brilliant regional experience. Patrons can’t help but delight in the ‘to die for’ views stretching across the bay to Melbourne, the You Yangs and Geelong. But the view isn’t the only thing that excites. At the Jack Rabbit restaurant the stunning a la carte menu – featuring an abundance of local produce – satisfies even the most discerning palate.

Leura Park Estate

“5 Star Halliday Wine Companion 2011” – Leura Park Estate is a funky, boutique vineyard with a mighty reputation for exceptional cool climate wines and fun. A cellar door experience will delight – enjoy the rustic chic ambience or ‘Cirque de Soleil-esque’ POD and feast on stone-based pizzas, yum cha, platters and cheeses. Plus live 60s, 70s and 80s music every Sunday.

McGlashans Wallington Estate

McGlashans produces award-winning cool-climate wines from 100 per cent estate-grown grapes. The maritime climate and sandy loam over buckshot clay is fast becoming renowned for producing high-quality wines.

Mermerus Vineyard

This boutique winery specialises in pinot noir and chardonnay. Their aim is to produce wines that elegantly reflect the terroir of this beautiful part of the Geelong wine region using hand-pruning and picking and wild yeast.

Oakdene Vineyards and Restaurant

Oakdene wines are made in small quantities, from excellent quality fruit, produced in low yields using meticulous vine management and crafted by proven winemakers. There is also an award-winning restaurant on site.

Ponda Estate

Ponda Estate is a small, boutique, family-owned vineyard in Wallington. We grow pinot noir grapes on our gently sloping three-acre block, surrounded by trees and lots of native birds. We manage all aspects of the grape growing ourselves and tend our vineyard on a vine-by-vine basis for optimum quality and consistency. Our grapes are hand-picked by family and friends at our annual harvest celebrations.

Scotchman’s Hill

Four generations of the Browne family have lived on the Bellarine Peninsula. In 1982, Vivienne and David Browne established Scotchmans Hill winery on Mt Bellarine, an extinct volcano that forms the tip of the peninsula. They helped kick-start the vineyard revival in the Bellarine Peninsula region. Today Scotchmans Hill is renowned for producing quality, cool climate, varietal wine and is one of the largest privately owned wineries in Victoria.
